FENTRESS COUNTY MAN ARRESTED ON PROBATION VIOLATION AND FELONY DRUG CHARGES

On Thursday, February 12, 2026, detectives from the Fentress County Sheriff’s Office Narcotics Unit followed an anonymous tip and located Phillip Cook, 53, of Jamestown, Tennessee, who had an active Violation of Probation warrant. Officers arrived at a residence on Alf Threet Road, where they spoke with an individual who confirmed Cook was inside the house. While at a shed on the property, detectives observed in plain view a white powdery substance resembling methamphetamine, along with small plastic baggies, straws, and assorted pills. The shed was secured to preserve evidence.

Detective Kris Lewallen then entered the residence, detained Cook on the outstanding warrant, and took him into custody without incident. During the arrest, officers found a small baggie containing a white powdery substance believed to be methamphetamine (a Schedule II controlled substance) and several pills identified as Subutex (buprenorphine, a Schedule III controlled substance), for which Cook had no valid prescription. As a result, he was charged with Possession of a Schedule III Controlled Substance under Tennessee law. The items observed in the shed are also consistent with additional charges for Possession of Methamphetamine (Schedule II). Cook was transported to the Fentress County Jail without further incident. As with all cases, he is presumed innocent until proven guilty in court.
