FINANCIAL UPDATE DELIVERED AT APRIL 2026 CUMBERLAND COUNTY COMMISSION MEETING

At the April 20 Cumberland County Commission meeting, all commissioners were present except Commissioner Wilson.

The financial update for March 2026 showed that the Codes Department issued 40 residential and 1 commercial building permits, along with 30 mechanical and 30 plumbing permits, generating $50,646 in fees — down from $64,001 collected during the same month the previous year. EMS collections totaled $377,001, falling short of the estimated monthly revenue of $433,333 and resulting in a year-to-date shortfall of $656,828.

April sales tax collections (reflecting sales from two months earlier) reached $1,255,571, exceeding estimates by $83,251 and putting the county ahead of projections by $522,896 year to date. Property tax collections stood strong at 98.96%, an improvement over last year’s 96.79% at this time. Hotel/Motel tax collections totaled $771,044 year to date (64.25% of the $1.2 million annual budget), slightly below last year’s $786,465.

Prisoner boarding payments from state inmates were significantly higher at $466,703 year to date compared to $323,039 last year, already surpassing the full annual budgeted amount of $397,823.
