UPDATE: FINNEGAN DEATH PENALTY TRIAL, JURY SENTENCES FINNEGAN TO DEATH BY LETHAL INJECTION

UPDATE: A jury in Anderson County sentenced Sean Finnegan to death by lethal injection today for the 2019 murder of Jennifer Paxton. The jury found his actions to be heinous and cruel, saying Finnegan mutilated Paxton’s body after killing her.
ORIGINAL STORY:
The death penalty trial of Sean Shannon Finnegan, arrested for the rape, torture, and killing of Jennifer Gail Paxton of Knoxville, is set to begin today in Clinton, TN.
Co-defendant Rebecca Dishman pleaded guilty to first-degree murder in September last year and is expected to testify against Finnegan.
The trial is expected to take most of the day and will have Judge Don Ash presiding.
Finnegan and Dishman shared a home on Fairview Rd, where it is suspected they led Paxton to their home with promises of a place to live, only to hold her against her will, beat her with a baseball bat, starve her of both food and medicine, strangle her, and eventually leave her for dead.
It is believed Paxton died in December of 2019.
