FIRE ON CLAYSVILLE ROAD LEADS TO ARSON INVESTIGATION

On Saturday, around 8:54 p.m., Deputy Caleb Charles responded to Claysville Road for a house fire. Once there, Deputy Charles made contact made contact with the homeowner who said she had been renting the residence out previously to two people.

The homeowner said she has been previously threatened with arson by the mother of one of the renters and has had a tough time with them since going through an eviction process.

Charles made contact with the renter after she arrived at the residence, however, the renter said she had been in Florida over the weekend, having just returned today, and was at her mother’s house near Plateau Road.

The renter said no electrical devices or outlets were in use in the home, and the electricity had been previously turned off. She said she doesn’t know what could have happened.

The renter said she was called by her mother, who advised her that the house was on fire.

County firefighters responded to the scene and extinguished the fire and Investigator Smith was notified and responded.

The investigation is ongoing and no suspects have been charged at this time.
