Firefighters from multiple agencies in Anderson County responded to a fire this morning before sunrise at Chestnut Ridge Landfill on Fleenor Mill Road.

Landfill crews operated heavy equipment to move and isolate the burning trash.

The fire was contained around noon. There was no threat of it spreading to areas outside of the landfill.

No injuries were reported.

The cause of the fire was not initially released.
