FIRST HOLOGRAPHIC SMARTPHONE SET TO BE RELEASED IN 2018
AT&T and Verizon announced they will begin selling a holographic phone sometime in 2018. The phone, called the Red Hydrogen One, is the first phone from the video equipment company Red. It will feature a “holographic display” that projects 3D images that can be viewed without special glasses. Users will be able to view images from the sides and behind. They will also be able to interact with the images using hand gestures. The camera will be able to capture custom 3D images. According to AT&T, the phone will be available as early as the end of this summer. Though neither company announced a price, pre-orders ranged from $1,295 for the aluminium model to $1,595 for a titanium-based model.
