FIRST RESPONDERS MONTH PROCLAIMED IN CUMBERLAND COUNTY

November is First Responders Month and officials in Cumberland County issued a proclamation in recognition:

WHEREAS, courageous and dedicated men and women in law enforcement, fire, emergency services, corrections, 911 dispatch, rescue squad, doctors, nurses, medical staff, emergency management, National Guard, and volunteers in all sectors of public safety, work to protect and aid the public during emergencies as both professional and volunteer first responders; and

WHEREAS, the members of first responder organizations undergo extensive education, training and personal sacrifice in order to develop the expertise required to respond to emergency situations; and

WHEREAS, highly trained, first responders are specialized workers who contribute their excellent skills for the public good; and

WHEREAS, first responders risk their own safety in the performance of their duties to protect our citizens; and

WHEREAS, first responders are the first and best defense against all emergencies that may threaten our communities—first responders are ready to aid the people of our communities 24 hours a day, seven days a week, regardless of inclement weather, threat of sickness or other hazards; and

WHEREAS, in addition to maintaining safety and order in times of crisis and providing lifesaving skills in times of need, our first responders also enhance their communities as volunteers for service organizations, churches, schools, and more; and

WHEREAS, our community is blessed and grateful to have such selfless, honorable individuals that serve in first response both professionally and voluntarily; and

NOW, THEREFORE, WE, James Mayberry, Mayor of the City of Crossville, and Allen Foster, Mayor of Cumberland County, do hereby proclaim the month of November 2020 in Crossville and Cumberland County First Responders Month

And we encourage all citizens to show appreciation and gratitude to all of our first responders for their selfless and tireless dedication to our community.
