FIRST TIME IN 108 YEARS CROSSVILLE IS WITHOUT A COMMERCIAL MOVIE THEATER

As of today, Crossville finds itself without a contemporary commercial movie theater for the first time in 108 years.

The Rocky Top 10 Cinema was first opened in the Spring of 2005. After almost 20 years, the Rocky Top 10 Cinema in Crossville will officially close its doors on Monday, April 24, 2023.  According to the theater’s Facebook page, Revolution Church, whose roots began inside Rocky Top 10, has contracted to purchase the theater building.  Originally the Revolution church announced the theater would remain open for at least a year or two until they could find someone to lease the theater – possibly four or five of the ten theaters.  Apparently, that search was not successful.

Crossville’s first commercially operated theater, The Mecca, opened in 1915, next was the Palace theater, opening in 1939 – then the Capri Twin in 1978 and finally Rocky Top 10 opening in 2005 and today – The end.

The Palace Theater is owned by the City of Crossville and does, from time to time, show vintage movies and conduct live musical shows.
