FLATROCK USA MOTORSPORTS CLOSES ON 773 ACRE SITE ALONG I40 AT WESTEL
According to a news release from Cumberland County Mayor Allen Foster, the sale has closed on the property for the Flatrock USA Motorsports Park in Westel. Flatrock USA now owns the property and the project can proceed.
The 773 acre property, located off of Interstate 40 at the Westel exit, was owned by the Plateau Park Partnership, but sat dormant for years. Roane, Morgan and Cumberland Counties purchased the property to market it for development. The project will break ground this year and is expected to open its first phase next summer.
The park will feature a six-mile track that incorporates the site’s rolling terrain. Plans call for a paddock area with race control, hospitality suites, meeting spaces, rooftop viewing, private garages and a FIA-certified kart track for public use. In a press release earlier this year, the developer had said the park will include an amphitheater, winery, hotel, conference center, restaurant, brewery, retail, clubhouse and more.
