A Roane County grand jury has indicted former constable 61-year-old Mark Arwood Patton for aggravated assault and aggravated burglary. Court documents indicate the victim sustained lacerations to his head, a fractured bone in his eye socket and a broken nose after Patton allegedly attacked him with a large wooden pole in February 2020. Patton served as constable for several years before he was relieved of his duty in 2012 when the county commission voted to do away with the position. Patton is scheduled to be arraigned in court Monday, June 28, 2021.
