FORT LOUDON WASTE & RECYCLING FIRE IS FINALLY OUT

Knoxville Fire Officials report that, as of Friday night, the large fire that broke out Wednesday at the Fort Loudon Waste and Recycling Center, had burned itself out. Ultimately, two acres worth of material such as cardboard, paper, light wood, and plastics, were consumed as firefighters were able to extinguish the core of the fire after it had burned for two days. No injuries were reported and people living and working around the area were allowed to return on Friday. Crews remained on the scene into Friday night in order to monitor hot spots. No damage estimate has been released at this time.
