FRANCIS DEAN ROBINSON, JR., AGE 70

Francis Dean Robinson, Jr, age 70, of Fairfield Glade, passed away Sunday, August 30, 2020 at University of Tennessee Medical Center in Knoxville from a heart ailment. He was preceded in death by his parents, Francis Dean Robinson, Sr. and Eva MaBelle (Batchelor) Robinson; his beloved wife of 54 years, Karen (Milligan) Robinson; and their firstborn child, Lisa Robinson. A longtime Michigander, Dean was born in Pontiac on October 28, 1939 and married his sweetheart in Alumni Memorial Chapel on the campus of Michigan State University in East Lansing on Nov. 19, 1960. He is survived by his three loving daughters, Kelli (Tom) Cox of Holly Springs, NC, Lynn (Doug) Bramwell of Kansas City, MO, and Kim Robinson (Dennis Martinez) of Davison, MI; grandchildren, Jacob (Molly) Cox and Jenna Cox, Amanda (Adam) Rhoades, Adam (Chelsea) Argue, Abigail and Aaron Jones, and Shelby (Jacob) Carpenter, Jack and Dean Smith; great grandchildren Cameron and Elsie Rhoades; Benjamin, Lincoln, Parker and Emma Argue and John, Riley and Gavin Carpenter; sister Barbara (Gerald) Evans of Cheboygan, MI; and brother-in-law, Rich (Cyndy) Milligan of Tucson, AZ.

Blessed with a beautiful marriage of over 54 years, Dean and Karen raised their family in Flint, MI. He worked for General Motors and Electronic Data Systems, which later took the Robinsons to Plano, TX. Dean was a competitive bowler and once won a large cash prize for his bowling expertise. He was also an avid woodworker and maintained quite an impressive home workshop. A devout Christian, he served as an officer for many years at Calvary Presbyterian Church in Flint, and helped form the Evangelical Presbyterian Church denomination at that time. He and Karen were also active at churches in Texas and then Florida prior to making their church home at Fairfield Glade United Methodist Church in Crossville, TN, where he was a Stephen Minister.  He served in the local community through volunteering at a local hospital and also by making deliveries to shut-ins for Meals on Wheels. In addition, he really got a kick out of his second “career,” working part-time at the Fairfield Glades Miniature Golf Course.

Dean cherished his family. He was a very devoted husband, a loving father, and a great grandpa! In his final years, after his wife’s passing, he enjoyed a warm friendship with Donna Goss. He will be sadly missed by all, yet the family finds comfort in the fact that he knows and loves the Lord Jesus Christ.

In lieu of flowers, gifts can be made to Fairfield Glade United Methodist Church. All are invited to attend a celebration of life service that will be held at 4 p.m. Saturday, September 5, 2020 at Fairfield Glade United Methodist Church, 231 Westchester Dr., Crossville, TN 38558. Family will receive visitors in the church narthex at 3:30, prior to the service.

Please remember to wear a mask, practice social distancing, and ask permission before hugging or touching someone (a family member has a compromised immune system).
