FRANCISCO GASPAR FACES DUI AND CHILD ENDANGERMENT CHARGES IN COURT TOMORROW

A Crossville man arrested following a tip about an intoxicated driver is scheduled to appear in the Cumberland County General Sessions Court tomorrow, October 29, 2026.
Francisco Jose Gaspar faces multiple charges—including driving under the influence and child abuse, neglect, or endangerment—following a traffic stop earlier this week on October 25.
According to arrest affidavits filed by Master Patrolman Matthew Charlock of the Crossville Police Department, officers responded to a call regarding a potentially intoxicated driver leaving an Exxon station in the Woodmere Mall. Witnesses reported seeing a stumbling male driver with a young female child in the back seat of a brown vehicle.
Officers located the vehicle on Genesis Road, observing it cross the center line and nearly drive off the roadway before a traffic stop was initiated on Village Lane. Authorities stated that the driver, identified as Gaspar, showed strong signs of intoxication, including the odor of alcohol, slurred speech, and an inability to maintain his balance.
Upon further investigation, police found a young child in the vehicle who was reportedly not secured in a proper booster or car seat according to Tennessee law. Law enforcement also determined that Gaspar was operating the vehicle without a valid driver’s license or insurance.
In total, Gaspar has been booked on six charges stemming from the incident:
  • Driving Under the Influence (First Offense)
  • Child Abuse/Neglect/Endangerment (Age 8 or Less)
  • Driving Without a License
  • Child Restraint Violation (Ages 4–8)
  • Driving on Roadways Laned for Traffic
  • Financial Responsibility Law Violation
Gaspar is represented by the Public Defender’s office and is set to face the charges in court tomorrow.
