FREEZE WARNING ISSUED BY NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE
The National Weather Service has issued a FREEZE WARNING for the following counties:
ANDERSON, CUMBERLAND, FENTRESS, KNOX, LOUDON, MORGAN, OVERTON, PICKETT, PUTNAM, ROANE, SCOTT, WHITE, VAN BUREN
The warning goes into effect at 11 p.m. central tonight (Wednesday, April 21, 2021) and is set to expire at 8 a.m. central, Thursday (April 22, 2021).
Sub-freezing temperatures in the low 30s expected, with upper 20s possible on the Cumberland Plateau.
Frost and freeze conditions will kill crops, other sensitive vegetation and possibly damage unprotected outdoor plumbing.
Take steps now to protect tender plants from the cold. To prevent freezing and possible bursting of outdoor water pipes they should be wrapped, drained, or allowed to drip slowly. Those that have in-ground sprinkler systems should drain them and cover aboveground pipes to protect them from freezing.
The National Weather Service also issued a FROST ADVISORY for the following counties:
BRADLEY, MCMINN, MEIGS, MONROE, and RHEA
The advisory goes into effect at 12:01 a.m. Thursday, April 22, 2021 and is set to expire at 8 a.m. central, Thursday, April 22, 2021.
