The National Weather Service has issued Freeze Warnings for all of Middle Tennessee – including Clay County, Cumberland County, Fentress County, Overton County, Pickett County, Putnam County, Van Buren County, and White County. The first Freeze Warning is from 3 AM to 9 AM CDT Tuesday. The second Freeze Warning is from 10 PM Tuesday to 10 AM CDT Wednesday. A killing hard freeze is expected for the entire mid-state region late Tuesday evening through Wednesday morning.

A Freeze Warning has been issued for Central Kentucky – including Clinton County from 11 PM EDT / 10 PM CDT this evening to 10 AM EDT / 9 AM CDT Tuesday. Expect several hours of sub-freezing temperatures, with lows in the mid-20s.

A Freeze Watch and a Freeze Warning has been issued for portions of Central, East Central, South Central, and Southeast Kentucky – including Wayne County. The Freeze Warning is from 2 AM to 10 AM EDT Tuesday, and the Freeze Watch is from late Tuesday night through Wednesday morning. For the Freeze Warning, sub-freezing temperatures between 26 and 30 degrees are expected for several hours. For the Freeze Watch, sub-freezing temperatures generally between 21 and 27 degrees are possible.

Frost and freeze conditions could kill crops, other sensitive vegetation and possibly damage unprotected outdoor plumbing. Take steps now to protect tender plants from the cold. To prevent freezing and possible bursting of outdoor water pipes they should be wrapped, drained, or allowed to drip slowly. Those that have in-ground sprinkler systems should drain them and cover above-ground pipes to protect them from freezing.
