It started to look a little too much like fall and the Halloween season to motorists on I-40 this morning after a 2017 Freightliner pulling a trailer full of pumpkins crashed.

The accident happened between the 295 and 296 mile marker westbound in Putnam County just before 11 p.m. last night.

The crash report states that 53-year-old David K. Mittei of Texas ran off the right side of the interstate and struck a guardrail.

The roadway was temporarily closed. It later opened up to one lane early this morning.

As of 11 a.m. this morning, traffic remains down to one lane at the crash site.

The accident report states that Mittei was injured in the accident.
