GARY HOWARD ADDRESSES SCHOOL THREATS

Director of Community Services and Criminal Investigations at Cumberland County Sheriff’s Office Gary L Howard took a moment to address students who make school threats.
His post on Facebook reads:
“Questions have arisen about how educational institutions and law enforcement verify the culpability of students making threats. The solution lies in conducting thorough investigations to reveal the facts. Our multidisciplinary team, consisting of school administrators, school resource officers, mental health professionals, investigators, Homeland Security agents, and other specialists, works together to ascertain the truth. Charges are only pursued when the evidence is conclusive, and the entire team is in agreement. Given that these are minors, our focus remains on correction rather than retribution, ensuring their safety and well-being while preventing harm to others through a rigorous decision-making process.”
