GOVERNOR HASLAM TO SIGN RURAL BROADBAND BILL TUESDAY
Gov. Bill Haslam will be in West Tennessee today to sign the rural broadband bill that will make it simpler for those in such areas to have internet access. The Broadband Accessibility Act of 2017 will allow non-profit electric co-ops to begin providing internet and video service. It will also provide $45 million in grants and tax credits to those entities to encourage developing internet connections in locations where there is none. Several local governments, including Cumberland and Roane Counties, encouraged the legislation.
