GREAT SMOKY MOUNTAINS NP OFFICIALS CREATE FIRE REVIEW TEAM
Officials with the Great Smoky Mountain National Park have created a team to begin an investigation into the deadly fires that began inside the park and ripped through Gatlinburg killing 14 people in it’s wake. The review team will be assembled with representatives from the Park Service, US Forest Service and the US Fish and Wildlife Service. A local fire chief will also be involved. Officials with the park have come under harsh criticism about the way the situation was handled, which began when the fire started on Nov. 23 in a remote section of the park.
