GROUNDBREAKING CEREMONY HELD FOR BUC-EE’S IN CROSSVILLE – PICTURES IN STORY

A groundbreaking ceremony was held at noon today for Buc-ee’s coming soon to Crossville. The location will be at the corner of Interstate Drive and Genesis Road just south of I-40. It will be the first Buc-ee’s travel center in Tennessee.

“They could not have picked a better location,” said Crossville Mayor James Mayberry. “We have been working to bring them here for two years. I want to thank Tennessee Speaker of the House Cameron Sexton and Senator Paul Bailey for their support on this project.”

“I want to thank Mayor Mayberry for his diligence in arranging for Buc-ees to come here,” said Cumberland County Mayor Allen Foster. “Until you actually step in this business, the pictures do not do it justice. This is a great company coming into Cumberland County.”

Senator Bailey said Buc-ees will be a great asset to Crossville and to the county.

“There was a lot of hard work that went into bringing them here to my home of Crossville,” said Tennessee Speaker of the House Cameron Sexton. I look forward to seeing this business operational for the jobs they will offer as well as the economic growth for Crossville and Cumberland County.”

Buc-ee’s Crossville will occupy more than 53,400 square feet and offer 120 fueling positions just outside its store with thousands of snack, meal and drink options for travelers on the go. The new travel center will also feature the same award-winning restrooms, quality products and excellent service that have won the hearts, trust and business of millions in the South for nearly 40 years. Officials say walking into Buc-ee’s is like going into a mix of a Walmart, a barbecue-centric deli, and tourism bureau, plus a dash of the Cracker Barrel general store.

“It’s special when we can come in and improve an area to make a beautiful location, said Buc-ees President and CEO Arch “Beaver” Aplin. “We look forward to having our grand opening here this time next year (around June 2022).”

Aplin was referring to a couple of abandoned structures that once occupied where Buc-ee’s will be located. The sole remaining building on the site once the home of Hilltoppers is being torn down as Hilltoppers is in their new location not far off of Industrial Boulevard.

Aplin has served on the Texas Parks and Wildlife Commission since November 2018. He is the former board president of the Brazosport Independent School District and a former member of the State of Texas Small Business Council, Lieutenant Governor’s Transportation Advisory Board, and the Brazosport Center for Arts and Sciences Board of Trustees. Aplin received a Bachelor of Science from Texas A&M University.

Throughout the project, the Buc-ee’s corporate development team will work closely alongside state and local leadership. Buc-ee’s Crossville will bring at least 175 new, permanent, full-time jobs. Buc-ee’s has some of the best worker compensation in the industry. Pay for a cashier or gift associate is between $13 to $15 an hour, food service, maintenance or car wash attendants is $14 to $16 an hour, team leaders ranges from $15 to $18 an hour and assistant managers is $18 and up.

Hiring for the Crossville Buc-ee’s will be announced in the future.

Buc-ee’s remains committed to providing a friendly, safe and fun stop for travelers everywhere.

The company is based in Texas and is known for its very large-format stores and clean restrooms. Their logo depicts a beaver.

Buc-ee’s offers products found at most convenience stores such as fuel, cigarettes, tobacco, chips, drinks, and soft drinks at their smaller neighborhood stores. Travel centers include a deli, coffee shop, exterior tunnel car washes, Texas-themed specialty gifts and food, and products catering to hunters and river rafters. All Buc-ee’s are open 24 hours per day, 365 days per year.
