GRUNDY COUNTY BOE DECIDES TO CONTINUE FOOTBALL SEASON DESPITE RAPE INCIDENT

With a vote of 6 to 2, the Grundy County School Board voted Monday night to allow Grundy County High School to continue its football season after five players were charged with attempted aggravated rape. The board said that allowing the students to play was the right decision. The team will face Sequatchie County Friday. At the special-called meeting, an oversight committee was elected to make sure that everything about the disturbing case is investigated correctly. Since head coach Casey Tate is currently suspended, the question is, who will step into his shoes. Some names were mentioned, and an appointment could come as early as Tuesday. Five players were charged with aggravated rape of another student at an arraignment on Monday. Authorities are treating the case as a rape case and not a hazing.
