WOMAN CHARGED IN DEADLY HIT-AND-RUN OUT ON BOND

Janet Elaine Hinds, the woman charged in the hit-and-run death of a Chattanooga policeman, was released on bond this week.

Hamilton County Sheriff’s Office spokesman Matt Lea says the 54-year-old Hinds was released Wednesday from Silverdale Detention Center and remains on house arrest. She is required to wear a GPS monitor.

Hinds is accused of the hit-and-run crash on Hamill Road February 23 that killed Chattanooga Officer Nicholas Galinger.

During a hearing Tuesday, Hamilton County General Sessions Judge Alexander McVeagh reduced Hinds’ $299,000 bond to $149,000 and sent the case to the Grand Jury.
