HAMMER-TOTING SALLY SELBY ARRESTED FOR VANDALISM, BLAMES TONY PERRY

Crossville police responded Saturday morning to a report of vandalism in progress at PEG Broadcasting on Miller Avenue. They found 45-year-old Sally Renae Selby, tearing apart the front porch and railings with a hammer.

She claimed Tony Perry had told her to “fix the steps.” When she was advised Tony Perry did not work there, and to stop damaging the steps, Selby refused to stop; she also cursed at and threatened an employee with her hammer.

When police ordered her to drop the hammer, she placed it down on the railing but kept her hand on it. Police attempted to move the hammer out of her reach, but she grabbed it back, thus forcing an officer to deploy his taser for a single five-second cycle.

Selby, who refused medical treatment, was taken into custody without further incident. She was charged with vandalism and resisting arrest. Damage to the structure was estimated at $450.

It was Selby’s third arrest in two and a half weeks.
