HARRIMAN CELEBRATES RE-GRAND OPENING OF RENOVATED FRED R. DAVIS JR. PAVILION

With the assistance of inmate labor and the City of Harriman, a ribbon-cutting ceremony and re-grand opening of the Fred R. Davis Jr. Pavilion at Triangle Park took place at noon today, Wednesday, April 8th.

The remodeling of the park, including the pavilion—which now features restrooms and a small kitchen—will enhance the park’s use for generations to come, according to city officials.

The remodeling process began last summer, utilizing Roane County jail inmate labor directed by Sgt. Robert Sparks. This approach helped keep costs down significantly.

We spoke with Harriman Mayor Wayne Best and City Councilwoman and Vice Mayor Alicia Harris at today’s gathering. They expressed that the new pavilion is now ready for public use.

The city had limited funds for the renovations and purchased only the materials. The use of inmate labor, along with a small amount of grant funding, helped save taxpayers thousands of dollars in building and enclosing the structure. This has made it a great day for Harriman residents who enjoy Fred Davis Park.
