HARRIMAN UTILITY BOARD ADDRESSES THURSDAY OUTAGE
The Harriman Utility Board reported a widespread power outage this morning affecting South Harriman, Swan Pond, Cardiff, Oakdale, Margrave, Emory Heights, and parts of Midtown after a breaker opened at the Harriman Primary Substation.
Initial reports indicated a truck had struck a 69 kV pole near the Cardiff scrapyard, but crews later determined the outage was caused when a crane operator made contact with a 69 kV transmission line. The substation breakerβs breaker likely prevented a much more severe incident and may have saved the operatorβs life.
After crews safely moved the crane, secured the line, and completed repairs, full power has now been restored to all affected customers. HUB apologized for the significant disruption and thanked the community for its patience.
