On Wednesday, a crash on HWY 70 North, near Royal Oak Charcoal, ended with two being airlifted for medical treatment.

A 17-year-old male from Monterey was traveling west in a Ford Mustang on HWY 70N when he decided to pass another vehicle, who was also traveling west. While passing over a double yellow line, the vehicle struck a Ford Escape head on. Barbra Deets, who was the driver of the Ford Escape was airlifted to UT Medical Center. Her husband, the passenger of the vehicle, refused treatment.

The male juvenile, who was driving the Ford Mustang, was also airlifted from the scene to UT Medical Center.

According to the THP report, all parties were wearing seatbelts. Charges are pending for the juvenile.
