HIGH-DOLLAR SPORTS CAR BURNS ON “THE DRAGON”

A sports car worth thousands of dollars burned up Sunday on U.S. Highway 129, also known as The Dragon, in Blount County. The Tennessee Highway Patrol says that the Nissan GT-R NISMO was traveling northbound between mile markers 6 and 7, when the tail-end burst into flame. When authorities arrived, the fire had already spread to the ground. The blaze was extinguished by deputies and Blount County fire crews. The owner of the vehicle stated that as he was driving along, the car’s dashboard lit up with warning and emergency lights. After he stopped to check the problem, a motor cycle rider pulled up next to him and told him fire was coming from the rear of the car. The owner said that he had cleaned numerous leaves from the car earlier that day and that some may have come into contact with hot surfaces. Loss was estimated at $107,000.
