HIGH SPEED CHASE THAT STARTED IN MONTEREY ENDS IN OVERTON CO.

Monterey police attempted to stop a vehicle yesterday for a tag violation. It quickly turned into a high speed pursuit on Highway 84 into Livingston. Officers deployed spike strips disabling the vehicles tires. The chase ended on Main Street. Meth, marijuana, drug paraphernalia, digital scales, and a rifle were reportedly found during a vehicle search. The driver stated he was a felon and ran because of the gun in his vehicle.

The driver, Travis Ashby Atkins, was charged with possession of a firearm during the commission of a felony, evading arrest, reckless endangerment, possession of a controlled substance with intent to sell, and simple possession of drugs.

A female passenger was charged with evading arrest.

Both are set to appear in Putnam County court October 28, 2019.
