HIGHLIGHTS FROM CUMBERLAND COUNTY COMMISSION MEETING

CUMBERLAND COUNTY COMMISSION TO MEET MONDAY, JUNE 17

The Cumberland County Commission met last night (Tuesday, February 16, 2021). The following resolutions passed:

  • Beth Wyatt-Davis was appointed to the Crossville-Cumberland County Convention and Visitors Bureau and Sheryl Webb to the county Health and Safety Standards Board.
  • Accepting $4,872 in various donations for the Cumberland County Animal Shelter.
  • Moving reserved funds for upgrading technology at the circuit court clerk facilities.
  • Accepting a $5,000 donation from the Fairfield Glade Ladies Club to support the College and Career Technical Education Program.
  • Amending the budget to receive $37,693.60 from the Tennessee Middle School STEM Start-Up Grant and the Middle School Career Exploration Grant.
  • Accepting a EPA bus grant of $96,620 as a part of the EPA Diesel Emission Reduction Act to partially fund a new bus. The school system will come up with the remainder for the purchase.

COUNTY FINANCIAL REPORT

Cumberland County Finance Director Nathan Brock reported emergency medical service collections for the month were $314,227 which is $19,106 under the monthly budgeted number of $333,333.  Year to date, the county is $405,263 ahead of projections.

Sales tax collections for the General Purpose School Fund came in at $977,133 which is $128,753 above projections. Year to date, the county collected $5,827,485 and are $554,138 above budget.

Property tax collections year to date are 63.8% of budget compared to 62.0% at this point last year.

Cumulative Hotel/Motel taxes are $409,491 which is 61.3% of the budget. The budgeted amount was revised down this year to $668,166 from $817,283. Last year, with the larger budgeted amount, the county collected $439,206, or 53.7% of budget, at this point.

Cumulative prisoner boarding collections are $200,733, or 33.3%, of the $602,396 annual budget.  Last year, the county was at $325,923, 43.9%, of an annual budget of $743,000.
