HIGHLIGHTS FROM CUMBERLAND COUNTY COMMISSION MEETING

The Cumberland County Commission met last night for their regular monthly session. Highlights include:

Sandy Gilbert was named the new interim property assessor. This position will be up for election next year to fill the remaining two years of the term. Click on the following story link for more information:

The following resolutions passed:

  • Katie Hardt was appointed to the Cumberland County Regional Planning Commission.
  • Darren Brock was approved for a one-year term as judicial commissioner
  • The approval of a display of a 16-inch projectile shell from a Navy cannon used on a battleship to be displayed at the Military Memorial Museum.
  • Commissioners unanimously approved lowering the speed limit on Cumberland Lakes Drive from 55 to 30 miles an hour.
  • Tanner Trail was removed from the Cumberland County road list.
  • The commission granted Ben Lomand an easement on West Creston Road on convenience center property. It will be used for equipment needed to expand broadband services in the area.
  • The approval to update the residential and commercial building codes for the county. State law requires building codes to be within seven years of the latest edition. The resolution updated the residential and commercial codes to the minimum that is used by the State of Tennessee.
