HIGHWAY 127 SHUT DOWN YESTERDAY AFTER CHASE LEADS TO WRECK
North and Southbound Highway 127 was shut down yesterday for three hours after a wreck involving two vehicles took place near Circle K and Shoney’s at around 7:30 a.m.
A Nissan Altima driven by Donnell Johnson and a Chevrolet Colorado was traveling southbound on US 127N when the Colorado slowed to turn left into the Circle K Market parking lot.
Johnson’s Altima was fleeing law enforcement when it approached slower traffic and passed in a no-passing zone, striking the Colorado as it turned left. After impact, Johnson’s Altima traveled off the left side of the roadway through the Circle K parking lot, rotating and coming to a final rest facing east in the northbound ditch.
The Colorado rotated and came to a final rest facing southbound in the roadway. During the collision, debris from the two vehicles struck two pedestrians who were standing near the north entrance/exit of the Circle K Market.
The collision resulted in five people being injured, with three of the injured transported via helicopter to regional trauma centers.
