HOLLY BOBO CO-CONSPIRATOR TAKES STAND IN 4TH DAY OF TRIAL

The accomplice charged in the murder of Tennessee nursing student Holly Bobo took the witness stand in day four of the trial of accused murderer Zach Adams. During his time on the stand, Jason Autry reviewed the grisly details of the afternoon of April 13, 2011 where says he went to visit Adams in order to get drugs, such as meth and morphine. Autry stated that he was recounting the incident in hopes of leniency in his case. Autry said he thought he was going to help cook a batch of methamphetamine, but then he was told by Adams that he needed to help with burying a body. He says he saw the body rolled up in a blanket in the bed of a truck and recognized it as Bobo. The two men then allegedly fled to an underpass along I-40 in Decatur when Autry said after unloading the body near the water, he saw the female’s foot move and heard her moan as if she was still alive. Autry stated that he told Adams that “something needed to be done” and so Adams retrieved a handgun and fired. The two men thought they heard a boat along the river and fled. According to Autry, he later met up with Adams to obtain “a fix.” He said it was then that Adams and Shayne Austin, who was also charged in the crime but later committed suicide, had a fight. Autry said he heard Adams reference the fact that Austin was “just as guilty” since he allegedly participated in the rape of the woman. Autry then testified, after the jury was released for a time, that he saw Adams two days later where Adams said he was afraid that his brother, Dylan, would not stop talking about the incident and he offered money in exchange for Autry to kill his brother. Autry told prosecutors that he never said that he would commit the murder but he did say that “if I do it, you’ll be next.” According to Autry, he did attempt to kill the brother, but the plan fell through. In 2012, Autry said he finally confronted Adams about the rape to which Adams allegedly stated took place at a barn in Benton County. Autry said Adams “admitted” to the rape, which involved himself, Dylan Adams and Shayne Austin. He was also told later that the Adams brothers engaged in an act of incest at the time. Also, Autry claimed that Adams said the whole thing started when he, Zach, had been at Bobo’s home to “teach” her brother to cook meth. Autry then said that Adams stated Holly began to holler, so he “took her”. The judge cautioned the jury to take the state as an allegation by Autry, and not “fact.”
