Cookeville police responded to 2140 Wildwood Drive early last night to a robbery and shooting. As officers arrived at the scene, they were simultaneously notified that a victim had arrived at the Cookeville Regional Medical Center suffering from a gunshot wound.

Upon officers’ arrival at Wildwood Drive, they found 23-year-old Brent Taylor Flatt of Cookeville suffering from multiple gunshot wounds.

Even though officers performed life-saving measures on Flatt before he was transported to the Cookeville Regional Medical Center, he succumbed to his injuries and was pronounced dead at the medical center.

The second shooting victim, Caleb Venable, was transported to the medical center by private vehicle. He was initially treated at Cookeville Medical Center before being later transferred to the Vanderbilt Medical Center. He has since been treated and released.

Detectives with the Cookeville Police Department initiated an investigation into this incident which resulted in the arrest of 20-year-old Issac Sides of Cookeville, 22-year-old Kayla Cowen of Cookeville, 22-year-old Caleb Venable of Doyle, Tennessee and 20-year-old Haleigh Watkins of Cookeville. All four were charged with first-degree murder. They were all transported to the Putnam County Jail and are being held without bond

Since this investigation remains active, no further information will be released at this time.
