“HUMAN REMAINS” FOUND IN FENTRESS COUNTY TURNED OUT TO BE FROM A BEAR
From the Fentress County Sheriff’s Office:
On September 17, 2025, the Fentress County Sheriff’s Office received a call regarding remains that had been discovered. Upon arrival, deputies determined that the remains belonged to a young bear.
It is worth noting that bear paws can appear very similar to human hands at first glance. In this case, the presence of large black hair and the overall bone structure confirmed the remains were from a bear paw.
We are very thankful to the individuals who reported their concern. We would always prefer our community members err on the side of caution and call us when something appears suspicious. Your awareness and willingness to speak up helps us ensure the safety and security of Fentress County.
