A bill that creates a choice for those obtaining license plates is on its way for Gov. Bill Haslam’s signature. The measure, introduced by Sen. Paul Bailey, allows the purchaser the choice of a standard design plate or one that includes the words, “In God We Trust” on it. Bailey says that the saying is now on several court houses and government vehicles. If the governor approves the legislation, drivers can begin requesting the plate after July 1.
