INDICTMENT HANDED DOWN BY GRAND JURY IN CONNECTION TO 2016 CASE
An indictment has been issued involving a murder that took place nearly four years in Morgan County that took place four years ago. On April 18, 2016, co-workers found the body of 71-year-old Jerry Lynn “Pete” McCarroll, at Allied Metals on Gouge Hollow Road. McCarroll was reportedly beaten and shot at least once.
Investigators say McCarroll was known to carry a large amount of cash and they believed that whoever killed him knew how he went about his day. The case grew cold and the TBI stepped in last year and soon after developed a suspect.
Agents presented their findings to a Morgan County Grand Jury this month and they officially charged 51-year-old Timothy Giles in the murder.
Giles is presently being held by the Tennessee Department of Corrections. Once Giles finishes serving his time there, he will be transported to Morgan County to face the charge.
