INDIVIDUAL LEAVES SCENE OF ACCIDENT THAT KILLED MARYVILLE MAN

A reward is being offered to lead to the arrest and conviction of the individual who left the scene of an accident that killed a Maryville man.
Maryville, TN  – Blount County Sheriff James Lee Berrong announced today the family of Gary Burchfield is offering a $10,000 reward for information leading to the arrest and conviction of the individual who struck and killed Mr. Burchfield.
On August 4 at around 1:30 p.m., deputies responded to the scene and found Mr. Burchfield lying near the roadway on Peach Orchard Road. He was taken by AMR Ambulance Service to Blount Memorial Hospital and pronounced dead a short time later. An autopsy was performed on Mr. Burchfield at the Knox County Regional Forensic Center, and preliminary results of the autopsy confirmed that the injuries he sustained appear to be consistent with being struck by a vehicle.
The Sheriff’s Office Traffic Safety Unit is continuing its investigation into the incident but needs the public’s assistance in identifying the individual responsible.
