Medics and deputies in Cumberland County responded to a single vehicle accident Monday on Westel Loop near Highway 70 East. Officers state in the report released today a 1997 GMC pickup driven by 18-year-old Makinley D. Simpson of Rockwood lost control in a curve and slid off the roadway. The truck went over an embankment and came to rest on its side against a tree. Makinley sustained minor injuries and was taken to Roane Medical Center for treatment.
