INMATE WHO ESCAPED FROM PUTNAM COUNTY JAIL CAPTURED
A Putnam County felon who escaped from the jail yesterday is back in custody.
Officers say 42-year-old Jack Janes walked out of the jail through a door that was accidentally left unlocked.
Janes was held for various charges, including bond revoked violations, aggravated criminal trespassing, possession of a weapon by a convicted felon, theft, and violation of community supervision.
Jones is also a registered sex offender.
Janes now has an additional charge of escape, which could carry six years of jail time.
“Anytime an inmate escapes, we made a mistake for that to happen, which is unacceptable and is currently being addressed,” said Putnam County Sheriff Eddie Farris.
