INMATES FROM GEORGIA WANTED FOR MURDERING TWO CORRECTION OFFICERS WAIVE EXTRADITION HEARING IN TENNEESSEE

The two inmates who are accused of escaping and killing two corrections officers in Georgia appeared in a Rutherford County courtroom this morning (Friday, June 16, 2017). Donnie Rowe, 43, and Ricky DuBose, 24, both waived their right to extradition, meaning they are agreeing to go back to Georgia without a hearing in Tennessee. Both are facing multiple charges in both states. Yesterday, the pair led police on a wild police chase starting in Shelbyville, Tennessee. Police said the two men tied up an elderly couple and held them at gunpoint before stealing their Jeep. Authorities later spotted the stolen vehicle on Interstate 24 and tried to stop them near the Epps Mill Road exit. Officers said the inmates shot at police during the chase, but thankfully, no one was hurt. Eventually the pair crashed on I-24 and ditched the stolen SUV, running through the woods until they came across another house and allegedly tried to steal another car. That is when the homeowner came out armed and held them at gunpoint with a neighbor until deputies arrived. Rowe and DuBose allegedly shot and killed two corrections officers in Georgia earlier this week while they were being transferred to another facility by a transport bus. It is not clear at this time just when Georgia authorities will come to Tennessee to transport the two back to face charges.
