INVESTIGATION CONTINUES INTO MURDER OF SOLDIER IN LOUDON COUNTY

The Loudon County Sheriff’s Department is entering their fourth week investigating the murder of a Tennessee National Guard soldier.

Investigators say the body of 35-year-old Jacob Dean Bishop was found by his mother inside his apartment on Shaw Ferry Road North around 7:30 a.m. October 1, 2019. His mother tried contacting him to no results. She went to the apartment, used a spare key to gain entry and found her son’s body on the living room floor. Bishop was reportedly bound and shot multiple times.

Bishop served with the 278th Armored Calvary Regiment of the Tennessee Army National Guard.

Witnesses reported seeing a white SUV in the area days before the murder. It was also seen leaving the area the day Bishop was murdered.

Investigators say the death of Bishop was not a random act but have not issued a comment on a possible motive.

If anyone has information on the white SUV in question or any details that could lead to an arrest in this case, call the Loudon County Sheriff’s Department at (865) 986-4823.
