The TBI is investigating an officer-involved shooting in McMinn County. Deputies responded to a domestic disturbance late Friday afternoon on the 200 block of County Road 288. When they arrived, officers made contact with Roger L. Branson, who barricaded himself inside the home threatening his wife. Negotiations with Branson reportedly failed. Officers say Branson then shot his wife after she attempted to escape. She was pronounced dead at the scene. Branson went out a back door and allegedly shot at deputies. Officers returned fire striking Branson. He was transported to a hospital for treatment of injuries. Branson reportedly started several fires on the property before the shooting.
