“IRATE” SUSPECT CHARGED WITH EVADING ARREST, RECKLESS ENDANGERMENT

Late last night, Cumberland County deputies pulled over 36-year-old Jonathan Cole Treadway on Highway 70 West for a routine traffic violation. Treadway, whom the deputy described as “irate,” claimed he was “tired of the police harassing him.”

Treadway refused multiple requests to step out of the vehicle and, when informed that his insurance was expired, cursed at the deputy, put his truck in gear and sped off eastbound. The deputy pursued, with lights and sirens on.

After reaching speeds approaching 90 miles per hour, Treadway turned off onto Arthur Seagraves Road, then onto Glade Creek Road. There he lost control of the vehicle, went into a ditch, up an embankment and struck a shrub. He continued down Glade Creek Road at approximately 55 miles an hour.

According to the arrest report, Treadway was taking tight curves on the wrong side of a rain-slicked roadway. He passed a vehicle on a blind hill, forcing an oncoming vehicle into a ditch.

When he finally did stop, he claimed he only did so “because something in the front end of his vehicle popped.”

Treadway was charged with evading arrest and reckless endangerment. Bond was set at $12,000 and he’s due in court February 11th.
