JAMES ENTERS “BEST INTEREST” PLEA IN DEATH OF HIS FATHER
An Oak Ridge man entered a best interest plea in court to charges relating to the death of his father back in late 2014. Court officials say the particular plea of 22-year-old William Brent James means he believes he is not guilty but if the case went to trial, he would likely be convicted and face a longer sentence than he would by declining the plea offer. James received four years on supervised probation and was ordered to serve 104 days in jail, with credit for time served. During the altercation back in 2014, the younger James was accused of hitting 50-year-old Mike James in the head, causing an aneurysm to rupture.
