JEANNETTE MOORE WARNER, AGE 87

Jeannette Moore Warner, born September 25, 1936, passed into Glory on July 11, 2024 at U.T. Medical
Center in Knoxville. At 87, Jeannette had lived a full and vibrant life and had positively touched the lives
of many friends, acquaintances and family.

While raising five children, Jeannette worked as an insurance clerk at Cumberland Medical Center, a
physical therapy assistant at Crossville Medical Group, a medical assistant for both Dr. James T. Callis
and Dr. Gene Cravens, and an administrative assistant for the Cumberland County Road Department.
While working at the Road Department, Jeannette discovered her knack for politics and successfully ran
for County Executive of Cumberland County (now County Mayor). She was the first woman in Tennessee
to serve in this position and held the position for two terms, from 1982 until 1990. She and her
professional team celebrated many accomplishments during her tenure, including obtaining health and
retirement benefits for county employees, establishing county convenience centers for garbage
collection, building the Obed River Park, starting the Farmer's Market, obtaining funding for the county
Animal Shelter and expanding the County Fire and Ambulance Services.

Jeannette enjoyed gardening, crafting, reading, thrifting and political debating. She loved cooking and
collecting and trying new recipes. She enjoyed surfing the web and interacting with friends and family
through Facebook.

She is preceded in death by her parents, Haskell and Edna Ledbetter Moore, daughter Leslie Joan Ryan,
nephew Todd Daub, daughter-in-law Ann Warner, son-in-law Jimmy Devine and step­granddaughter
Jenny Wood. She is survived by her children, Cherry Daugherty, Carla Devine, Russell
(Laura) Warner and Holly (Steven)Hill; her sisters Jane Ann Eroh and Janice (Paul) Howard; grandchildren
Adam (Jaime)Daugherty, Jennifer (Eli) Ward, Stephanie (Stephen) Malin, Sydney (Joe) Webster and
Trena Pleasant; great grandchildren Brady and Tanner Daugherty, Tyler (Ashley) Kerley, Sam and John
Warner Ward and Samuel Webster. Jeannette also had a multitude of relatives, friends, neighbors and
church friends that she loved and cherished.

Jeannette loved animals and adopted many strays, especially cats, that showed up on her doorstep.
Donations in remembrance of Jeannette can be made to any of the local organizations that assist
animals, including FOCCAS, PAWS or the local City/County Animal Shelter.

A Celebration of Life will be held at Hood Funeral Home and Crematory on September 25, 2024, her
88th birthday, from 10 AM to 1 PM with a service to follow.
