JEREMY PRUITT FIRED AS TENNESSEE VOLS HEAD FOOTBALL COACH

BREAKING SPORTS NEWS – Tennessee Volunteer head football coach Jeremy Pruitt was fired for cause today by the university. His dismissal was because of alleged NCAA violations. The university will reportedly not pay his buyout. Pruitt lasted just three seasons with the Vols.

In addition to Pruitt, Chancellor Plowman and Athletic Director Phillip Fulmer issued termination letters to assistant football coaches Brian Niedermeyer and Shelton Felton, four members of the on-campus football recruiting staff, the director and assistant director of football player personnel and a football analyst/quality control coach.

Coach Kevin Steele has been named acting head coach in the interim.

Additionally, U.T. Athletic Director Phillip Fulmer will retire after the university hires his replacement. Fulmer wants his successor to choose the next football coach. Fulmer’s departure is not connected to the NCAA investigation.
