JERNIGAN ARRESTED AFTER SHOTS FIRED AT HOME WITH KIDS INSIDE IN CUMBERLAND CO.
Cumberland County deputies responded Sunday to a home on Raccoon Drive to a report of shots fired. Officers noted several bullet holes in the residence with one coming two feet from a baby crib. Authorities then encountered the suspect, 43-year-old Roy Louis Jernigan of Crossville, who reportedly was under the influence. Officers say Jernigan told them he was mad at his truck he was working on, went and grabbed an AR-15 and fired multiple rounds. The bullets went into the home behind the pickup. Three children ranging from 8 months to 6 years old, as well as an adult, were inside the residence at the time. No injuries were reported. Jernigan was charged with reckless endangerment, taken to the Cumberland County jail and initially placed under $20,000 bond.
