JIMMY CLARK OF CUMBERLAND COUNTY CONVICTED OF CHILD RAPE

A Cumberland County jury Tuesday began hearing proof and testimony in the case against 62-year-old Jimmy Harold Clark, charged with rape of a child.
During the trial, the victim very courageously faced her abuser and testified that when she was 11 years of age, Clark raped her. The proof also included the video interview of Clark where he admitted to having sex with the child.
The trial concluded yesterday after the jury deliberated for less than an hour. The jury of 12 unanimously convicted Clark. They also imposed the maximum fine of $50,000.
After the jury announced its verdict, Judge Bray ordered Clark taken into custody. A hearing is scheduled for January 10, 2024, to determine a date for his sentencing.
Assistant District Attorneys Philip Hatch and Allison Null prosecuted the case. The Cumberland County Sheriff’s Office was the lead investigative agency.
Child sexual abuse is among the most shocking and egregious of crimes. Those who prey on vulnerable children deserve to be removed from our community. Public Safety is paramount. Our children are precious and must be protected. Please pray for the health and well-being of the victim in this case.
