John LeRoy Karter, age 79, of Fairfield Glade, passed away March 18, 2021. He was born June 23, 1941 in Sheffield, Alabama the son of John H. and Marie McPherson Karter. He was retired from Met Life as an insurance agent and was also a United States Navy veteran. He enjoyed reading and working out and loved to travel, but most special of all, John loved to help others. He is survived by his wife of nearly 58 years: Jeri Karter; son: Michael Karter of Fairfield Glade; brother: Larry Karter (Dee) of Knoxville; sisters: Donna Barker (Joe) of Dandridge, Linda Cummins (Butch) and Brenda Irwin, all of Knoxville; and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents. No services are planned at this time, as this was John’s wishes. Obituary by Hood Funeral Home in Crossville.
