JOINT OPERATION LEADS TO DRUG ARREST IN COOKEVILLE

On June 12, 2025, Putnam County Sheriff’s Narcotics Division, along with Overton County Sheriff’s Office, after weeks of investigation, executed a search warrant at the Extended Stays Suites hotel, located at 897 South Jefferson Avenue in Cookeville, TN. The search warrant resulted in contact with Michael Wayne Flannigan who admitted to having Methamphetamine inside the hotel room.
The search of the hotel room revealed approximately 2.5 ounces of a crystal-like substance that tested positive for Methamphetamine, a loaded .22 caliber pistol along with ammunition, digital scales, multiple plastic baggies, and $555 in cash—all items consistent with the sale and distribution of illegal narcotics.
Michael Wayne Flannigan was arrested and charged with Manufacture, Delivery, Sale of Methamphetamine, Unlawful Possession of a Weapon, and Armed Dangerous Felonies. Flannigan has a bond set at $140,000 and a court date of June 18, 2025. He also has a lengthy criminal history in Putnam County including multiple thefts and aggravated burglaries.
Sheriff Farris said, “This is another example of the success that comes from strong interagency partnership. Working together we send a clear message that illegal drug activity will not be tolerated in our communities.”
